HIV

Where can I get tested?

HIV testing and testing for Sexually Transmitted Diseases or Infection is done at Planned Parenthood, 595 S. Bluff Street in St. George. Phone # is 435-674-9933. Family planning services are available there as well.

Is there an anonymous test site in Southern Utah?

There is not an anonymous test site in Southern Utah. The closest anonymous test site is in Las Vegas. The test site at Planned Parenthood is “confidential”. That means that no one but you can release the test results.

How much does a test cost at Planned Parenthood?

There is a charge for each test requested. Please call the office at 435-674-9933 to discuss the details of your case with a confidential receptionist.

I heard that there are “Free Testing Days”. When are they?

The HIV/AIDS Task Force of Washington County holds four free testing days a year. The first is on National HIV Testing Day, June 27th each year. The second is at Southern Utah Gay Pride Day. This event is usually near the end of September in Springdale, Utah.   The third date is in October when the Task Force holds a fund raiser walk and the fourth is on December 1, World AIDS Day. Please check this web site for exact locations, dates and times each year.

Gold Medal Schools

How can I find out if my child attends a Gold Medal School?

You can call your school and ask the school staff or you can check the web site: www.hearthighway.org/gms/index.html

How can I get my child’s school to become a Gold Medal School?

When parents get involved with the Gold Medal School program, the benefits to the children, school and staff are multiplied. Get involved with your school’s PTA or whatever parent organization supports your school. Volunteer to be the school liaison and then contact your local health department office. The staff there will put you in touch with the Health Promotion staff who will help you.
