Flu

To prevent the spread of flu:

  1. If you are sick, stay away from other people
  2. Cover mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, then throw away the tissue
  3. Wash hands often, for at least 20 seconds each time
  4. If you are at risk for flu (senior-citizens, small children, or people prone to illness), consider getting a flu shot this fall.

West Nile

To prevent West Nile Virus:

  1. Wear long sleeves and long pants and socks during mosquito hours from dusk to dawn.
  2. Use mosquito repellants, such as DEET (follow instructions on the container – 10% DEET for children under 12; up to 35% for all others.
  3. Keep mosquitoes from spreading by eliminating standing water such as might be in barrels, old tires, etc.
