Rabies Exposure

Share

Steps to take if a human is exposed to a potentially rabid bat or animal,

  1. Call the Health Department immediately to report 435-986-2551.
  2.  Enlist the help of local  animal control or Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) to capture the bat or animal.
  3. Call the Health Department for shipping instructions and forms. In the case of human exposure there is a limited window of treatment opportunity so we must overnight ship the bat to the Unified State Laboratory: Public Health.
If bats are regularly entering a building, it would be ideal to locate and seal the entry route.
